My Works in Progress (WIP) For This Week!

My Works in Progress (WIP) For This Week!

How is it December already!? I know this is cliche, but this year definitely feels like it flew by. I had a whole bunch of blogs planned for before December with ornaments/holiday items. And then life got in the way, as it usually does! So this week, I’m sharing my latest work in progress (WIP).

I am almost done piecing this foundation paper pieced quilt. Here’s the first time I made it.

unique-orn quilt

The first time I saw the pattern I knew I HAD TO MAKE IT! It’s so darn beautiful!

The pattern of this quilt is called Unique-orn and it is by And Sew I. You can purchase it from the designer directly here on Payhip. (It’s a much cheaper alternative to Etsy).

I first made this quilt for a friend’s 50th birthday. This time it is a commissioned piece, and I’m thinking of making a third one to enter into a quilt show! Here’s a bit of my progress this time on this quilt.

This is the main eye of the unicorn. 36 pieces!

Here’s one of the ears with a little bit of background. For this quilt the background is all different shades of blue.

Here’s a piece of the mane of the unicorn. I used Kona Sheen in rainbow colors the first time, but this time I’m using floral prints. I’m still going with rainbow colors, but I was worried the prints would take away from the overall look. Solids are safe for me and I love to use them, so this was definitely out of my comfort zone. But I think it looks good, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like when it’s all pieced!

I did take a break from this quilt this week to make a couple of ornaments. I am hoping to improve my technique and then detail how I did them in my next blog post.

That’s all my WIPs this week. What are you working on? I would love to hear about your current works in progress too! Feel free to share with me in my private Facebook group!
